Pinto Gus is a miniature shetland pony and is approximately 9 years old. His story, luckily, is not one of abuse. Gus was part of a family that decided they needed to re-home him. He wasn't getting the attention he needed and short of meals, his interactions with people was becoming more and more limited. An ad was placed locally, "free to good home" and when our founder was notified she jumped into action. After meeting with the family several times and giving them peace of mind that he would live the rest of his life in a loving home with excellent care, Gus was on his way. After a few trailer inquiries fell through and not wanting to lose any more time our founder and her best friend loaded up in a mini van, removed the seats and got him safely in the back. Though it was messy, it worked, and he was safely delivered to the farm. Gus spends most of his days in the pasture racing the resident dogs along the fence line and loves going for walks in the neighborhood. He has really come out of his shell and become quite the charmer. We hope once we move to a new property, we will have the space to rescue more horses, donkeys, and mules and Gus will be a part of a herd like he was meant to be.
